The future holds a lot for humanity. One of which is the advancement of Artificial Intelligence. At this point, a car is not just a tool for moving from point A to B. With it’s advance Machine learning and AI skills, the car becomes a personal assistant. The i-Transdroid is an urban vehicle that explores this by having an autonomous driving system that eases the vehicle owner from the hurdles of daily urban driving.
As an urban vehicle, the i-TransDroid also solves the current acute road congestion contemporary cities, such as Lagos in Nigeria, face by utilizes a compact architecture that utilizes minimum space on roads. This is based on the premise that heavy traffic occurs during traffic time, with vehicles designed to carry five people, occupied by one person. The i-Transdroid pays homage to the early days of automotive design, when trunks were appendages of vehicles. This design creates a unique packaging solution for the user. The trunk features retractable wheels that optimizing storage space. It also equipped with an autonomous system, allowing to focus on other issues.
The i-Transdroid explore the use of an exo-skeletal frame structure, that imitates that of a motorbike, in order to evoke the feeling of confidence from the user and provide ample interior space in such a small package. This design approach on a four wheeled vehicle brought its challenges, such as rethinking the suspension system setup.
The rear light graphic was developed to have the same floating surfacing design theme as seen the entire vehicle. This theme evokes the Bauhaus modernist design approach as well as strength and dynamism. Attention placed to make it simple as possible, while using LED strips to achieve this simplicity.
