Nigerians were awakened to the harsh realities of depression following the suicide of Dr Allwell Orji which involved him stopping his car on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos, alighting and jumping off the bridge into the lagoon. This awakening was evident on Social Media platforms.

The Death That Got Nigerians Talking About Depression Illustration Project interpreted the incident thus:

Concept Sketching:
Concept recognizes key elements in the tragic incident: The doctor; His vehicle; His driver; Third-Mainland Bridge; The lagoon.

Concept 1: Doctor jumps of third-mainland bridge into a receptive lagoon while the his driver, standing beside the car on the bridge. is stunned.

Concept 2: The driver is left out to ensure focal point is around the falling doctor and the hydro-morphed hands of the receptive lagoon. The angle of view has been adjusted to be slightly above water level thereby depicting the bridge as taller structure in comparison with that of Concept 1. Cars and a city have been added to show that the incident occurred within an social ecosystem.

View is taken farther from incident to show the expanse of the bridge and the doctor’s car with it’s door still wide opened.
